The Roof
Owens Corning shingles over ice-and-water shield at the edges and valleys, with drip edge to keep water off the fascia.

Shingle roofs, replaced, repaired and built as a whole system. No pressure, and no surprises on the price.

We're a family-owned, locally operated roofing company serving Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky from two locations, the East Side and Blue Ash. Most of our roofing work is one of three jobs: replacing a roof, repairing one, or fixing storm damage.
Whichever one brings you here, the first step doesn't change. We look the roof over, put the photos in front of you, and price a repair and a replacement side by side. The decision stays with you.
Not sure which one you need? That's what the free inspection is for. We'll tell you, and we'll talk you out of a replacement you don't need.

Roof replacement
Most repair calls are leaks at flashing, valleys and pipe boots. Our dedicated repair division finds the source and fixes it.
Roof repair
Wind and fallen-limb damage, emergency roof tarping, and straight talk about whether an insurance claim is justified.
Storm damage repairWe're an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and Top of the House certified. Top of the House is a whole-system approach, and it's how we look at every roof. Shingles are one part of four. The roof, the intake, the ventilation and the attic insulation all have to work together.
Every roof needs outside air coming into the attic and stale air going out. Without that circulation you can get mold, the upstairs gets hotter, and the roof wears out faster. As Justin Huber, one of our owners, puts it, a poorly ventilated roof "cooks from the inside out."

Outside air has to get into the attic. We check intake during your free inspection.
Fresh air in, stale air out. We size it with a vent calculator.

We want you to finish the conversation relieved, with a clear idea of the problem, the price and the choices in front of you.

We tell you what a roof costs. A typical 15-square roof replacement runs $10,000 to $14,000. Most homeowners finance through Service Finance Company, with flexible financing options and a standard 18-month program. See financing

We're an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, Top of the House certified, and a VELUX certified skylight installer. A SWORD project manager is on site to supervise every job.

On a tear-off, debris goes into our Equipter, which lifts to the eave and keeps it out of your landscaping. We run a magnetic sweep for nails on every job.

We educate, we don't hard-sell. We show up when we say we will, and we keep you posted from start to finish. We're rated 4.9 on Google.

The inspection is free and includes drone photos and an attic ventilation check. When accessible, we inspect attic spaces to limit the amount of surprises on the price.
We photograph our projects by drone. Tap any photo to see it larger.
A price on its own tells you very little. What you want from a roofing contractor is the reasoning, and that starts with a proper inspection.
We fly a drone over every slope and get on the roof where a closer look is needed. You see the photos.
Ventilation and intake are checked on every inspection. When we can get in, we look at the sheathing from below as well.
If a repair and a replacement are both reasonable, you'll see a price for each. Which one you pick isn't for us to decide.
Pitch, how cut-up the roof is, the number of layers and extras such as skylights and chimney flashing all move the number. You should hear which of them apply to your house.
We answer the same questions week after week. Here are the short versions.
About $10,000 to $14,000 for a standard 15-square roof with sound wood underneath. More detail is on our roof replacement page.
Wood decking. When it's damaged or out of code, it has to be replaced, and a full re-deck averages $4,000 to $6,000. We check it from the attic when we can, so the price holds fewer surprises.
Often it's ventilation. An attic needs outside air coming in and stale air going out. Without it the heat stays, and the roof wears faster.
Get a second look. We have a repair division, and we regularly tell homeowners they don't need the roof they were quoted. See roof repair.
Sometimes an independent shingle test changes the picture. We explain how on our insurance claims page.

Some roofers offer several brands. We chose one. Every roof we install uses Owens Corning shingles, and the main reason is a strip of woven fabric across the nailing zone called SureNail.
No one can stand over every nail on every roof. The strip marks the right zone so plainly that we can trust each installer is hitting it, on the slopes we watched and the ones we didn't.
A nail driven too high, too low or too deep shortens a shingle's life. The strip gives installers a clear target, improves the wind rating and helps the shingles seal to each other.
It's quicker for everyone if we're clear about this. SWORD Roofing is a shingle company.
We don't install or repair metal roofs, flat roofs, tile, slate or rubber roofing. Those are specialist trades, and you deserve a specialist for them.
What we do cover is everything on and around a shingle roof: replacement, repair, storm damage, gutters, soffit and fascia, skylights and ice dam removal, plus vinyl siding.
Our main office is at 4325 Mt Carmel Tobasco Rd on the east side of Cincinnati. Our second is at 6824 Ashfield Dr in Blue Ash. The office team is in Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM.
Between them we serve communities across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. If you're north of the city, start with our Blue Ash roofing page.

Ask most homeowners about their roof and they'll describe the shingles. Half of what decides how long those shingles last is happening underneath them.
Every roof needs intake and exhaust. Outside-temperature air comes into the attic, usually at the eaves, and stale air leaves near the top.
Mold in the attic. Upstairs rooms that are hot when the rest of the house isn't. And a roof that deteriorates early, because the shingles and the sheathing are being heated from below as well as above.
We use a vent calculator instead of guessing. That is part of the Owens Corning Top of the House approach, which treats the roof, intake, ventilation and attic insulation as one system.
Most roofs we replace are more than 20 years old, and building standards have moved on since they were built.

You don't need a leak to justify a call. These are the moments when a free inspection pays for itself.
After a storm with high wind, especially if there are shingles or limbs in the yard. When a home inspection report flags the roof, whether you're buying or selling. When the roof is past 20 years and you want to know how long it has left. And when another roofer has told you it all has to go and you'd like a second opinion.
We'll tell you what we see. Sometimes that's a new roof, sometimes a repair, and sometimes it's nothing at all for a few more years.
We look at how much life the shingles have left, mostly by granule loss, and at what the repair would cost. Heavy granule loss plus a repair that runs around 15% of a replacement is where the replacement conversation starts. Otherwise we're happy to patch it. You get both options either way.
We're a shingle company, and we install Owens Corning shingles exclusively. There are three to choose from: Oakridge, TruDefinition Duration and TruDefinition Duration FLEX. We explain the differences and you decide.
Most of our roof replacements are finished in one day. Larger or more complex roofs can take longer, and we'll tell you up front if yours is one of them.
We offer emergency roof tarping for active leaks and tree damage. We tarp first, then diagnose, estimate and repair it properly. Call us at (513) 528-0023.
A standard 15-square roof replacement, about 1,500 square feet, typically runs $10,000 to $14,000. Pitch, how cut-up the roof is, and accessories like skylights and chimney flashing move the number. When decking needs to be replaced, a re-deck averages $4,000 to $6,000. Repairs depend on the cause, and you get the price before any work starts. For a quick ballpark, build your roof quote online.
